Design mechanism and features

Near-power support in six steps

ReadMax is a Power Boost Equipped Lens with six values: 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1.00, 1.25 and 1.50 D. Its lower-lens support zone addresses near work; a practitioner determines the appropriate value.

18 mm corridor

The document describes 18 mm NRP and boost range as supporting a gradual power transition. This does not guarantee elimination of all swim effects or fatigue.

Personalisation inputs

ReadMax's document identifies DuraTrace and DuraTrack eye/head movement data. Frame position and behavioural data inform personalisation; Core Inset is specified as 0–4 mm.

ENGINEERED FOR VISION

Technologies in this design

DuraTrace
Ray-tracing calculations and optical-aberration optimisation in surface design.
DuraTrack
Viewing-behaviour inputs and the ratio of eye to head movement, as described for this model.
Core Inset
Standard automatic inset for near-zone positioning, as specified in the product table.
POSITION OF WEAR

Measure before manufacture

Required parameters vary by design and must be recorded by a professional.

Monocular PD
Each eye's pupillary distance is recorded separately to align horizontal lens positioning with the visual axis.
Fitting Height
Fitting height is recorded on the adjusted frame in the natural position of wear; the required near zone must also fit within the frame.
BVD
Distance from the rear lens surface to the corneal apex; relevant to power-compensation calculations in personalised models.
Pantoscopic Angle
The frame's vertical tilt in the position of wear must be measured; example values are not substitutes for measurement.
Wrap Angle
The horizontal curvature of the frame relative to the face, describing lens positioning.
Box A
Horizontal width of the frame opening in the boxing system.
Box B
Vertical height of the frame opening in the boxing system.
DBL
Distance between the two lens boxes at the frame bridge.
ED
Effective diameter: twice the greatest distance from the boxing centre to the lens-shape edge, used for blank selection and edging calculations.

Design-specific inputs

  • Eye-Shuttle Kinematics: adapting power distribution to the head-to-eye movement ratio measured with the Eye-Shuttle headset.
  • Core Inset (0–4 mm): standard displacement of the boost focus according to reading distance.
Monocular pupillary distance

Monocular pupillary distance

For aligning the lens centre with each eye's visual axis.

Fitting height

Fitting height

Vertical pupil position relative to the frame in the position of wear.

Back vertex distance

Back vertex distance

One of the inputs describing the actual position of wear.

These are basic fitting parameters; additional inputs and the level of personalisation are specified for each model.
